Maria Månsdotter, Born 1718 [sic]; Daughter Anika, Born 1769; Daughter Catharina, Born 1773 [sic]; & son Petter, Born 1776 [sic]”.  Sweden was at war with Russia from June 1788 until Aug. 1790 in what is known as 'King Gustav III's Russian War', & it appears that he died fighting in that war.  Desiring to regain territory lost in previous wars, Sweden entered into an alliance with Turkey on 21 June 1788 & attacked Russia, whose main forces were engaged elsewhere in the Russo-Turkish war of 1787-91.  However, the war was unpopular in Sweden & disturbances began in the army.  The war on land was inconclusive & in the period 1789-90 combat only took place at sea.  The Kalmar Regiment served the entire war with the Navy; fighting in the indecisive naval battles of Högland, 17 July 1788 & of Öland, 26 July 1789.  The Kalmar Regiment may have also served at the naval First Battle of Svensksund on 24 Aug. 1789 - in which the Swedes were defeated by the Russians & lost 20 ships & 1500 men killed, wounded or captured.  The war ended inconclusively in 1790.  In the 'General Muster Roll' for the Kalmar Regiment taken on 17 June 1793 it was recorded as follows - “Major's Company.Rote Number 318, Rote Name - Emhult, Sven Nilsson Emberg död under sjö expedition [Died during sea expedition] 28 Oct. 1789”.  Died 28 Oct. 1789 - as recorded in the 'General Muster Roll' for the Kalmar Regiment taken on 17 June 1793.

I am interesting in locating more information about the family of Karin Davidsdotter who was born on 27 December 1714 at Järeda, daughter of David Klockare of Hogruda and his wife Margareta.

Has anyone come across this family before?

Many thanks
Robert

Thanks for looking Tommy.  I wonder why there were no births recorded between May and September 1730, but I guess we will never know.

Hello Tommy

My references for the birth of Margareta Jöransdotter born 24 June 1730 are:

1.In the Husförhör for Kieldur, Linde taken in 1751-69 she was recorded as “Greta [sic] Jöransdotter, Born 24 June 1730

2.At her marriage at Fardhem on 30 October 1763 she & her husband were recorded in the marriage register as “Mårten Mårtensson, Sandarve, Fardhem, Dräng [Farmhand]” & “Margreta [sic] Jöransdotter från [from] Klockare i [in] Linde, Piga [Maid].

3.In the Husförhör for Fardhem taken in 1769-85 she & her family were recorded as “Mårten Mårtensson, Born 7 April 1723, Married 30 Oct. 1763, från [from] Sandarve, Died 22 July 1782; H[ustru] [Wife] Margreta [sic] Jöransdotter, Born 24 June 1730, Från [From] Klockare i [in] Linde; Nils Mårtensson, Born 6 Nov. 1764 & Jöran Mårtensson, Born 23 April 1768”.

4.In the Husförhör for Sandarve, Fardhem taken in 1785-1812 she was recorded as “Enkan [Widow] Margareta Jöransdotter, Born 24 June 1730 at Linde, Moved from Rodgarve 1761, Married 30 Oct. 1763 - 1st marriage, Died 4 April 1791.

It is thus clear that she was born at Linde on 24 June 1730.

The problem is I cannot find the Linde births for 1730 on ArhivDigital?

Many thanks
Robert

Hejde / Hejde
« skrivet: 2013-06-21, 08:44 »
Hello

I have an ancestor Margreta Pehrsdotter who appears to have been born in Väntinge, Hejde in 1723 or 1724.  At her marriage to Rasmus Sorenson at Stånga on 7 November 1756 she was recorded as Piga Greta Pehrsdotter, Väntinge, Hejde.  At her death at Stånga on 7 April 1797 she was recorded as aged 73 (thus born in 1723 or 1724)

I have access to ArhivDigital, but unfortunately there are no birth registers available for 1724 available on that site.

Can anyone advise if there is any other way of accessing the Hejde church book for 1723 and 1724 births other than visiting Gotland (I'm in New Zealand).

Many thanks
Robert
