Typographer Frans Ludvig Lindgren b 13 Oct 1859 in Jakob parish in Stockholm, his wife Tilda Lindgren b Svensdotter 27 April 1861 in Augerum parish in Blekinge county, and their eldest son moved to Maria Magdalena parish in Södermalm, the south quarter of Stockholm city, in December 1887. Three sons were born in Maria - more about the children further down.
On several occasions in 1893 and 1895 Frans was in hospital, he was an alcoholic. Obviously the family was poor, in 1896 they got three food-portions/day from the poor relief.
In January 1897 Frans and Tilda and their four sons moved to Uppsala Domkyrko parish in Uppsala town, Uppsala county. They returned to Södermalm in October 1898.
In 1900 and 1904 Frans lived in the workhouse institution Dihlströmska in Södermalm, he had to work there since he could not pay a debt to the poor relief, 102 SEK.
Tilda lived in Grubbens Allmänna Försörjningsinrättning, a poorhouse, April-May 1901. She died in S:t Göran hospital 10 June 1901. Cause of death: Empyema pleurae dext. (suppuration in the right pleural sack?) and Nephritis Chron. (cronical kidney inflammation).
Frans lived in the refuge of the Salvation Army January 1906-January 1911.
1919-1926 Frans was listed in the appendix - his address was unknown, he may have moved out from the parish and Södermalm.
In February 1901 the four sons lived in common a lodging-house in Södermalm.
Johan Ludvig Kristoffer Lindgren, b 15 March 1886 in Nikolai, moved to Finland in July 1901. He returned to Södermalm 1904 as a workman and lodger. 1912 he moved to Klara parish, Stockholm. 1915 his profession was engine- (machine-) man. July 1917 he moved to Jakob parish. Unmarried.
Nils Vilhelm Lindgren, b 11 Aug 1888 in Maria, moved to Östra Ed parish, Östergötland county, Oct 1901. Returned to Södermalm 1904 and worked as a shop assistant. Later on he was an engineering worker. 1915 he lived in Klara and Kungsholm parishes. 1916 he lived in Södermalm with his wife Kristina Matilda Lindgren, b Westergren 17 June 1883 in Tierp, Uppsala county.
They had a son Karl Bertil Lindgren, b 15 Aug 1910 in Klara, and a foster-daughter Ingrid Ehrlin, b 23 April 1916 in Jakob. Oct 1917 the family moved to Solna parish, Stockholm county.
Karl Oskar Magnus Lindgren, b 23 Okt 1890 in Maria, moved to Västra Ed parish, Kalmar county, Oct 1901. Returned to Södermalm 1914 as a workman. Was in prison Långholmen 1919, and also in Långbro mental hospital. 1923-1926 he lived in workhouse Dihlströmska. Unmarried.
Gustaf Adolf Lindgren, b 7 Dec 1892 in Maria, moved to Östra Ed parish, Östergötland county, in Oct 1901. Returned to Södermalm 1912 as a workman. Lived with his brother Nils 1914 and with his brother Karl 1922-1923. 1923-1926 he lived in workhouse Dihlströmska. March 1926 he moved to Brännkyrka parish, Stockholm City. Unmarried.
