I´m looking for a cousin of my grandfather that went to USA. Her name was Anna Lydia Åsling (Asling) born 1894, 26th of Oct in Alsen, Jämtland. She had lost both her parents in 1902 and went to New York from Gothenburg 1916 20th of Sept. and arrived 1916, 3d of Oct. I don´t know anything of what happend to her.

She was going to see an uncle. Do you know if she had such a one, Peter Byström? Source: passenger list  at arrival Ellis Island  3 October 1916. (Ancestry.com)

As a matter of fact she really had. His name was Petrus Larsson Byström b 1876 5/11 in Näskott (Z) and he went to USA 1896 29/12 (Näskott AIIa:1 p 182). She also han an uncle named Jonas Larsson Byström b that went to USA 1893 8/3 but i think he came back 1926 to Alsen (Z).

If you don´t find her, perhaps try Petrus descendants?
I found his marriage to Esther 18 May 1901 on Manhattan, NY and later in Census they have Children:
Reynold(Reinhold), Edna and Edith.
Peter Bystrom (with wrong birthday but correct parents and wife): Death 24 March 1937 in New York.
All is found through familysearch.
It is possible that Anna Lydia returned to Sweden?

Anna Lydia is not in the death book of Sweden and I´m sure she stayed in USA. Her other uncle Jonas Bystrom went to Chicago - maybe she looked up him?

An interesting fact is that Anna Lydia's brother Lars Albert (born 29/6 1892) emigrated in 1912 according to Alsen AIIa:2 (1910-1920) page 350. Their parents were Per Persson Åsling and Brita Larsdotter according to Alsen AIIa:1 (1900-1910) page 310.

I found an Albert Pearson born on that same date in SSDI. Could it be the same man? Do you know if he stayed? His name is very common so it could be someone different as well.

Name:   Albert Pearson
SSN:   379-09-1864
Last Residence:
49879 Republic, Marquette, Michigan, USA
BORN:   29 Jun 1892
Died:   Jan 1973
State (Year) SSN issued:   Michigan (Before 1951)

If this is her brother then it could be that Anna Lydia also went by the name Pearson...

This must be him - he definitely stayed in USA! He went from Trondheim/Norway 1913 2/4 saying he was going to Chicago but of course he may have ended in Michigan. I´m sure even Anna Lydia could have used the name Pearson. Thank you for writing!

I am not sure of that conclusion. There is a Lars Osling in the state of Illinois who died 1968. According to SSDI Lars O. was born 31/7 1892 and that does not seem to fit. But, Lars Albert Åsling was baptized that day, and an interpretation error of his records (attest) might have occurred.

There is an Albert Valdemar Persson, born 29/6 1892 in Naverstad, who apparently emigrated since he is found on a WWI registration card (FamilySearch).

I Illinois a man called Lars Osling is found who is said to be born between 1892-1894. Census 1920 and1940. Also in Find a Grave.

Lars Osling finns också på ett WWI draft registration card:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KZ6Q-PNF

Name:   Anna Asling
Departure Date:   20 sep 1916
Departure Place:   Göteborg (Gothenburg), Göteborg och Bohus, Sverige
Ship Name:   Stockholm
Birth Date:   26 okt 1894 (26 Oct 1894)
Birth Place:   Östersund
Age:   21
Destination:   New York, New York
