Wiktoria Swanson

[Arthur Oslund]

I am looking for any information on my grandmother Victoria Swanson.  She was married to my grandfather Tycko Ferdinand Oslund (Aslund in 1909.  The USA census of 1910 shows her as age 34 and born in Sweden having emigrated in 1888 (this date is not clear on the document and could be 1898).  I could not find her in emigration records.  Most of the know ship manifest records are after 1892.

Dear Anne-lee,  
Victoria and my grandfather Tycko Ferdinand Aslund (Oslund, Osland) lived in Moline, Illinois, USA. Tycko emigrated in 1900 and probably missed the 1900 census. If Victoria emigrated in 1888 (according to the census)then no ship manifest records would be available. The 1900 census should show her but there were a lot of Victoria Swansons around at the time.  The ship manifest was first required in 1893. It is also possible that Victoria was her middle name and she changed it when emigrating. It was a common practace for emigrants to change their names to something they liked or sometimes to something more English. I think Victoria is sometimes spelled Wiktoria in Sweden. Also, the last name could be some variation of Swanson like Swenson, etc. I am sorry, this is not much to go on. The main thing might be her age if it is correct at 34 in 1910.
