Mrs. Maria Turnquist Stohl, 71, 910 5th Avenue, a dressmaker here for many years, died at 10 a.m. Monday in Rockford Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Born March 20, 1879 in Vastmanland, Sweden, Mrs. Stohl came to this country in 1906 to live in Chicago. She later moved to Montana where she lived until 1916. She then came to Rockford to make her home. She was married to Gust A. Stohl in Sweden. For many years Mrs. Stohl operated a dressmaking shop in the Palace Theater building. Surviving are two sons, Carl G. and Adolph P. Stohl of Rockford, four grandchildren; a brother, Perry Turnquist, Chicago; two brothers and a sister in Sweden; and a nephew, Willard Turnquist, Detroit, Michigan. Her husband died in 1948. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Wilbur Christenson Funeral home, 925 3rd Avenue. The Rev. Joseph Conrad, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Scandinavian Cemetery.

Adolph Perry (Pep) Stohl, 62, 5574 Knollwood Road, died at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov 1, 1972 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born April 26, 1910 in Chicago, son of Mr & Mrs Gust Stohl. Lived 50 years in Rockford, coming here from Billings, Montana. Married to the former Marion Stokstad in Rockford April 11, 1942.
Employed as a service representative by Cleveland Twist Drill Co, Cleveland, Ohio, for 25 years, retiring in 1969. Member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lions Club, Lyron Singing Society, Masonic Lodge 102, Freeport Consistory, Tebala Temple. Survivors include his widow Marion, one son, Bob, Rockford, one daughter, Nancy, a student at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, a brother, Carl, Rockford, one niece and one nephew. Services at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Nov 3 in Fred C Olson Mortuary, 1001 2nd Ave, with the Rev. Ralph Leonard, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established in his memory with the American Cancer Sodiety and the Lions Club Blind Center of Rockford.

Hospital after a long illness. Born Sept 9, 1908 in Chicago, son of Mr & Mrs Gust A. Stohl. Lived 57 years in Rockford, coming here from Chicago. married to the former Virginia H. Peterson in Rockford, Sept 9 1939. He was a retired salesman for the 3M Company. Member of Zion Lutheran Church and of Rockford Masonic Lodge 102, Freeport Consistory, Tebala Shrine Temple, and Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club. Survivors include his widow, Virginia H, one son, Richard, Fairport, New York, one daughter, Mrs Kristine Egger, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and 4 grandchildren. Services at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Fred C. Olson Mortuary, 1001 2nd Avenue, with the Rev. Ralph Leonard, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. No visitation. Friends may contribute to a memorial for the American Cancer Society.
