Looking for any info on my great grandparents.

Johanna Sofia Andersdotter, born 13 Jan 1851, Pjatteryd, Smaland (possibly Kronosberg Ian).
Emigrated to Mt Jewett, McKean Co, Pennsylvania in 1889.

Married in Sweden to:

Gustaf Nilsson born 4 July 1855, location unknown.  He came to the US before the rest of his family and died 9 November 1888, in Kane or Mt Jewett, McKean Co, Pennsylvania, before the arrival of his wife and sons.

They had four sons who were born in Sweden, only three lived and came with her to the USA in 1889:  In America, their names became Americanized, their first name may have been changed and their last name became Nelson.  Probably in Sweden, it would have been Gustafson.
Gustaf A. H. Nelson
Gottfred Leonard Nelson, born 24 Oct 1876
Elmer A. Nelson

Johanna had a brother and sister who probably were in the United States and probably arrived with with her in 1889.  There names were probably also Americanized.
John A. Anderson, born 7 December 1853 in Smaland

Thank you so much for your efforts and all the information you've provided; my mother will be especially thrilled with finding out more about her grandmother.
Her younger brother was born somewhere in Småland in 1853, but I don't know what parish.  I am still looking for his children here in the US.
Again, Thank you.

I am seeking more information about my ancestors
in Pjatteryd.  My great-grandparents were Solomon
Nilsson (b. May 22, 1834) and Elin Svensdotter.
They were living in Pjatteryd Parish at Nybo when
my grandfather, Carl August Solomonsson (Newburg
in America) was born on June 3, 1859. I would like
to know the death date for Solomon; the birth and
death dates for Elin; and the names of their
parents. How should I proceed?

Thank you.

You should proceed with checking the birth records of Pjätteryd?s parish of 1859, and then checking the following household examination rolls. These exist on microfiche and can be hired or bought from Svensk Arkivinformation (www.svar.se). If you are not able to read Swedish, you might need someone to help you to translate the information for you.

Sincerely,
Johan R:son Sjöberg
