Elfstrom, Nils Morgan, born 1893-03-16

I am searching for my grandfathers brother Nils MORGAN ELFSTRÖM. He was born in Tölö, Halland, 16/3 1893. 1911 he emigrated to Amerika. Probably with a friend called Johan (Arvid) Johansson, born in Elfsåker, Halland, 2/11 1894.
 
They arrived at New York in 1911 and Nils Morgan visited his cousin (or aunt?) Alida Andersson, 64 Webster Street, Meriden, Con.
 
At his 22nd birthday 16/3 1915 Nils Morgan wrote a letter from SAN CARLOS, COPPER REEF, ARIZONA, to his brother (my grandfather). Since then his relatives has not heard from him. (He might have worked in a mine in Utah before - or after?)  
 
Was he killed in a mine accident, was he sent to 1st World War in Europe or what happened to him? How can I find out?  
 
This photo I think was taken in America. Nils Morgan is driving the car.

Does anybody know what word the letters in the background are the beginning of? It might be the place where the photo was taken.

Hi Marianne,
I think this foto was taken at some fair and that pennant is just a prop that might have been obtained anywhere.
Do you have a some towns that Nils lived in?
