Hello,
I am looking for information on why Carl Burman, born out of wedlock in Brunflo 17 Nov 1820 (GID 2688.10.95000), took the name Burman. He is the brother of my g-g-grandfather.
He was born to Carin Olsdotter (B.D. 10 Oct 1789) and had a brother Olof, also born out of wedlock who, later in life, took the name Nilsson (B.D. 16 July 1825, GID 2688.10.97400). In 1817-1827 (GID 2688.20.80500) Carin, Carl and Olof lived with her brother Anders Kaik (sp) in Ope No 3. Their parents, Olof Carlsson (B.D. 30 Mar 1764, GID 2688.10.86800) and Catherine/Carin Carlsdotter (B.D. 26 Aug 1762, GID 2688.10.86700) also lived with them. Household examination records show they lived in the Ope area until sometime in 1839- 1847 (GID 2688.2.30200). I do not recall, nor did I copy the pages that indicate where or when they moved.
In 1841-1849 (GID 2174.21.59400), Carl now is listed as Carl Burman and is living with his wife Margaretha Ersdotter (B.D. 29 Mar 1827) in Hammardal. My g-grandfather, Nels Peter Olofsson (B.D. 5 Jan 1849) took the name Burman when he emigrated to the USA. Any information that you could share with my family and me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Shelley
