It's possible I may have distant relatives living in Sweden today. My great grandmothers sister never emmigrated to America as did her brother and sister. The person who stayed in Sweden was Sofia Amalia Lilja, born in Hogstad, Ostergötland Oct.
6, 1870. Her father was Gustav Andersson Lilja born in Ekeby, Nov 17, 1828. Her mother was Clara Gustfva Askenberg, born Jan. 7, 1828 in Väderstad.
How do I find out what happened to Sofia and were there any descendents?

Dale,

You are lucky enough to have parish names. Hogstad, Ekeby, and Väderstad are all parishes. They are probably all in the county (län) of Östergotland. (There are four parishes named Ekeby and only one is in Östergotland. I assume they lived in the same län.)

Hogstad (parish #058611) and Väderstad (parish #058612) are both in Mjölby kommun. (community?) Ekeby-the one that is probably correct--is parish #056002 and is in Boxholms kommun.

You can obtain the records for each parish from LDS (Mormon church Family History Centers). You just have to do the research, but you have enough information to get started.

I can send you a link to the parishes of Östergotland if you contact me at my email address.

Judy
